Purandar Fort 

Purandar Fort is known as the birthplace of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.The fort is repeatedly mentioned in the rising of Shivaji Maharaj against the Adil Shahi Bijapur Sultanate and the Mughals. The fort of Purandhar stands at 4,472 ft (1,387 m) above the sea level in the Western Ghats, 50 km to the southeast of Pune. The twin forts of Purandar and Vajragad (or Rudramal) of which the latter is the smaller of the two, is located on the eastern side of the main fort. The village of Purandar takes its name from this fort.

In 1596 A.D, the Bahudar Shah of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate granted the territory of "Pune" and "Supa" to Maloji Bhosale, the grandfather of Shivaji. The Purandar Fort was included in the territory.

In 1646 A.D, a young Shivaji in one of his first victories for the Maratha Empire, raided and established control of the fort.

Ajinkyatara Fort Ajinkyatara   ( meaning "The Impregnable Star") is a fort on one of the seven mountains surrounding the city of   Satara   in the   Sahayadri   Mountains of   Maharashtra , India. It is a 16th-century   fort   that was called "Ajimtara" during Aurangzeb regime and was based on Aurangzeb son's name, Ajim. Marathi novelist   [Narayan Hari Apte]   named the fort "Ajinkyatara", when he wrote his first novel on the same name, first published in 1909. Now it also holds the television tower for the city of Satara. This fort has been the place where several pivotal moments in Maratha history took place.   Tikona Fort Tikona  also known as  Vitandgad ) is the dominant  hill fort  in  Maval  in western India. It is located near  Kamshet  around 60 km from  Pune . The village nearest to the fort is called Tikona-Peth. The 3500 ft high hill is pyramidal in shape and the name Tikona means "triangular". Tikona Fort 🚩 The fort is a trekking destination noted for the large doors, the temple of 'Trimbakeshwar Mahadev', a water tanks (seven water tanks) and some Satvahan caves. Trek organisers also commend the views of Pawna dam and the nearby forts of  Tung ,  Lohagad  and  Visapur .
